Neale's big case is over. She celebrated yesterday. She is out buying shoes for Europe right now.

Tonight, we are going to Aya Sofia, which was the anniversary dinner place but they forgot they were closed during Memorial Day weekend. They made up for it by mailing us a gift certificate for dinner.

Ellis and I got a walk in before the rain. Our neighbor's house was visited by a landscape company. They laid some mulch, planted some flowers, and added some curb appeal. Considering the house next to it is going for $234K and a house down the street is close to $300K, the house next to us needs to make an effort. But, we believe it will be a "handyman special" as we have not seen any interior work done and the foundation has visible issues. My battle with the shared fence line has been going on for three years. On a related note, the squirrels have destroyed the bird feeder. I came home Monday and found it in pieces. On Friday, I will begin the rebuilding of the bird house and take it to version 2.0.

Neale is almost done with her big case. Tomorrow should be good.

We found out Fiction Plane is opening for the Police.

"...paint it black..."

We ran and walker in the Kirkwood-Webster 5K this morning. I ran better than last week in the Race for the Cure but I had the same time (26:10). Neale and Ellis walked it and did alright. It was not designed for walkers so there was only a few. Ellis was happy to be out for the most part. We went to Uncle Bill's Pancake House for breakfast and it was good (B+), just not as good as Christopher's Pancake House near the Hill. We learned that Uncle Bill's has been in operation since 1961.

Neale is still struggling with her case. It has been difficult.

Yesterday, we went for a ride before the scattered showers. I worked in the yard, mowed, and started to prep our interior doors for staining. We will stain after we get back from Europe. At night, we watched "Breach", which was good.

It was time to renew our cell phone plan so we upgraded our phones. We both have Samsung Sync SGH-a707s, which has the MediaNet free for a month. It is quite nice but not worth the extra $20 a month per phone. The camera is great and it is easy to use. It is my first flip phone and it is massive improvement considering what I had for the last 3 years. Plus, they are world phones so we can be reached in Europe. But, if you an going to call us, please keep this in mind. It is six hours ahead for central time. For example, it is 6:30 right now.

"...I'm waiting for my man..."

I went for a run to warm up for the 5K on Sunday. I did some grading, worked out, got an oil change, mowed, picked up our race packets, and made a new recipe (7 Vegetable curry with couscous). I also worked on our bedroom doors that needed some slight adjustments. So, it was pretty busy for a Friday but it was a Friday in my house as opposed to Bill's, which was a great project but a long one.

Neale is closer to finish on her big case. It has been stressful.

The new flashdrive for the camera and the outlet adapter/converter travel kit came today. Europe is getting closer.

Tomorrow, we are riding early (its getting hot earlier here...summer finally) and getting new cell phones. Our plan expires and we could use phones suitable for European travel too. Also, I am tired of having the "KMart Kid phone" of cell phones. I am thinking a camera phone with some text ability. Luckily, Cingular (AT &T Wireless) had plenty of free phones. We have used them since being in STL. We used Verizon in Ohio.

Today, I am waiting for the stove delivery at Bill's house. Then, we can put the 'for sale' sign in the yard and start selling.

I have updated the bird feeder design and purchased two items designed to keep the squirrels away from my tomato plants. I lost two tomatoes to the wildlife.

There is only a week left in my traditional SOCI 131 class.

"...one place left in the world..."

Neale had fun celebrating Cristal's birthday.

The Deftones was a good show. The December show was better though. The sound last night seemed way too bassy.

I am getting a haircut today and we are visiting the lawyer to start our will. Yes, we have assets and they need to go places in case something was too happen.

The next concert is the Police, July 2nd at Scott Trade. Since my summer 1 class will be over, I will enjoy an extended July 4th holiday. I feel sympathy for people that have to work and enjoy the holiday on a Wednesday....ouch.

It finally came to me how close Europe is on the calendar. We have outlet converter adapters coming and I picked up a 1GB flashcard for our camera. I have been using a 256 MB card and not had any problems but I want to take as many pictures as I want in Europe and not get concerned about storage.

"...he's a guy..."

My car is no longer a rolling toolbox. Yes, we are done at Bill's house and it can be your home starting Thursday.

The Deftones are tomorrow. Mein.

My 5K on Saturday went well. I finished in 26:10. Given I did not train outside and have not been riding since we have been working at Bill's house every weekend, I feel I could have better. The Webster/Kirkwood Connection Run is this Sunday. Neale is walking this year.

Neale reorganized the NLRB picnic and it was a success. There was a good crowd on Saturday and Ellis was well behaved. It was in the 90s but there was a decent breeze.

I was at Bill's house yesterday. I cleaned and vacuumed the carpets. Then, I laid some poly cover to prevent it getting dirty again. I finished the basement door with a block plane. I cleaned and scraped the windows on the inside. I used Windex Outside on the other side. The basement door lock was forced so the lock was open but the key has long since been lost. So, I took the lock apart in order to fix it. I need some glue to finish the job.

Neale is spending the night out of town on a short trip.

"...Martin door...garage door..."

We went for a walk in Forest Park that lasted an hour and half. It was too windy to ride. We went to Turtle park via Hampton as the Tam Ave. overpass is long gone. Yes, the words that strike fear in your average STL resident is "Hwy 40 reconstruction". We went up to Skinker and headed back to the Planetarium where our car was parked. Ellis met a STL Police horse. Since we walked for over an hour, we were thirsty and went to the Central West End for a smoothie or something. We found a small organic grocery store and got a water & lemonade.

I am enjoying a new Schlafly beer, the Export IPA. Quite good.

What sounded good for dinner was cheese, crackers, olives, and some artichoke dip from Straub's market.

Neale is watching "the Illusionist" and I am oddly drawn to SCI-FI's airing of "The Stand" mini-series.

We got a lot done at Bill's yesterday. Neale ordered the stove and removed excessive paint from the windows. Thanks to Clayton all the windows open now. We stained some shut during the winter. I worked on the bottom of the door to the stairs, placed the final kitchen drawer knobs, attached the closet door knobs, placed the address numbers, hung the bathroom towel rack, painted the drywall repair spots, replaced outlet covers, and removed the basement sinks. We are getting close to being done. I would have painted outside but it rained. Next weekend, we are going over Saturday and Sunday.

We purchased our new TV yesterday at Circuit City. Best Buy had nothing in our price range and size. We decided on a 40" Sony Bravia, which I spent an hour hooking up yesterday. The digital channels are not being recognized yet but Neale is out getting another cable that should solve that problem. Our Charter DVR does not have a HDMI input nor does our DVD system but there are solutions. Overall, the picture, sound, and quality are excellent. We were torn between an LG, Hitachi, and Sony. Later, we will upgrade the DVD system.

We went for a walk, Sweet Tomatoes, and to Mount Pleasant. Ellis did well and it was a decent crowd but less than usual on Saturday. The weather had cleared but storms were in the area. We stayed about an hour and noticed a dark cloud bank coming in. So, we headed for home, feed Ellis, and went to the Greekfest, which was better than last year. Despite the spotty storms, the winds kept the humidity from being a problem. We stopped at Trader Joe's for some cider and wine to enjoy while watching Pan's Labyrinth.

This weekend is our anniversary weekend. We are having dinner on Sunday. Seeing "Pirates" on Monday, going to the Greekfest Saturday, and shopping for a TV at some point. If the weather permits, we are going out to Mount Pleasant to listen to some music.

I have an open Friday, which is nice. No grading, no schedules, and no home improvement that is needed to be done. I will stain the closet door and trim piece but that takes seconds. We bought that home. The deadline on the house is June 11th.

Since the forecast calls for a wet Memorial Day weekend I mowed yesterday. Ellis discovered the joys of a backyard tennis ball. I discovered a squirrel is chewing through the thistle bag string so I am upgrading to wire.

We went for a ride and tried to eat at the Lakehouse, which is the restaurant at the lake we bike around. The service was lacking in the dining room. The patio, which was full got all the attention, so it took 5 minutes to get a menu. Then, there was no options for me really so decided to leave. We went to La Salsa, which is currently second in my burrito rankings. The beloved Baja Fresh shines best among them all. We recently got a Chipotle but their chips are over salted. After lunch, we stopped in at the 2nd Wind Exercise store, which is in the same strip mall. We intended just to look but the salesman (Mark) was great and the deal was good. We purchased this. It has an orthopedic belt so Neale's ankles are better protected. The installation will be on Tuesday.

I took Ellis for a walk. He dodged his bath at this point.

"...right where it belongs...."

We went to Sweet Tomatoes for our first meal. We went for a walk and then over to Bill's place. The first task besides admiring the new AC unit was climbing the ladder to the back peak to remove the light fixture. I had a hacksaw that was in need of a new blade. After some sawing and wiggling the light, it was loose. We tried a rope to it in order to direct its fall away from us and the new AC unit. With Neale holding the rope, I went up again with the wire cutters. We turned off the power to the house but did not get a hard confirm from the light as the bulb burned out. So, I cut the wire with a moment of "hey, this is how electrocution feels in my mind". In the end, it came down but there is still a siren up there. Yes, I said a siren. Bill had security measures. We stopped "high ladder time" and focused on the inside. We put the pulls on the kitchen, which looked great after the poly. Then, we put the door hardware on the back bedroom. The hit plate is not quite right so the door is sticking and that will take alittle more time. Lout and Dolores stopped by to see the place. Lout was/is Bill's brother that lives nearby. We also placed the closet handles, which need to stained. We bought some staining materials home so we can finish the door and a piece of trim.

Neale has Penn Stattion for dinner and I made veg dogs.

After four years, we had $16.76 of change in the weird cup we got in Vegas. Quarters were not included because I use those for car washes. CoinStar took 2% for its effort.

"...look at me not the fat ass losers..."

Neale is not feeling well. She says its allergies. So, we decided she should take it easy. But, we not going over to Bill's, which is not a big deal.

We enjoyed some mint juleps during the Derby and then switched to Cinco de Mayo celebrations. But, everyone else had the same idea at Pueblo Solis, which is owned by friend of a hairdresser at our salon. Since we were near the Hill, we went to Italian place that neither of us had been to before yesterday. We ate at Lou Baccardi's, which was empty because everyone was at the Mexican restaurants.

"...feliz cinco de mayo..."

Hey, its not raining. The grass looks great though.

We watched "The Queen" last night. Neale saw it in the theatre during the Oscar push. Good film but not as many corgis (ellis color) as Neale promised.

When got home last night, I was hungry so we went to Enstein's Bagels in Kirkwood, which has not been on the menu since Strongsville days. However, we went just before closing and the staff was ending a rough day. It took them so long to make our sandwiches that we had to make the sandwiches to go so we went to Debbie's house to eat. Debbie was finishing painting Neale's old room. It was damaged in the winter storm as there was a tree limb through the roof. After dinner we went to the Global Market, which had 1.34 pounds of mint for under $2. That is a great deal. There was also a few other things such as cheap pepitas and a Greek dessert Neale likes. The mint is important because I am making some mint juleps for the race. Neale's coworker has family in hospice so he canceled his annual party.

We are going out to a new Mexican restaurant tonight. Neale is going into work this morning.

I staked one of the tomato plants already. It was droopy.

"...People say I'm crazy doing what I'm doing
Well they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin
When I say that I'm o.k. well they look at me kind of strange
Surely you're not happy now you no longer play the game

People say I'm lazy dreaming my life away
Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me
When I tell them that I'm doing fine watching shadows on the wall
Don't you miss the big time boy you're no longer on the ball

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go

Ah, people asking questions lost in confusion
Well I tell them there's no problem, only solutions
Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if I've lost my mind
I tell them there's no hurry
I'm just sitting here doing time

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go ..."

"...what is good?..."

I am making croutons for my homemade vegetable soup.

Neale is working alittle late because she got a priority case for tomorrow morning.

It is raining but I was able to get some more mulch down and finished the planting. One of the tomato plants did not have holes in the bottom of the pot so I solved that with my drill.

I got some online grading done today. I am grading exams on Friday and I may start on their final papers too. I want to be done by next Friday. Graduation is the Wednesday after grades are due as it has been since I worked at LC.

My new amp stand arrived but not the amp.

I got a haircut. A lady almost backed into me as I was pulling into the lot. Close one.

"...this ain't a love song..."

Sean, a coworker, made me listen to this. I felt dirty and alone. The radio show is Bob & Tom out of Indy... KSHE is their local here.

"...sick sick sick..."

Rather rainy here. I needed a day off from exercising as well.

Neale had trouble sleeping last night. Odd.

I planted our tomato plants. I also laid some mulch and have the other plants ready for planting. But, I need more potting soil and the rain came.

Ellis is playing with his man. He does this thing where he grabs it, shakes his head, and growls.
